Step into a world where every move is a matter of survival. The Stalemate is a gripping psychological drama that draws inspiration from the metaphor of a chess game, weaving together themes of trauma, power, and the human will to endure.
At its heart is the story of siblings Renu and Karthik, scarred by years of violence under their abusive father. Just as they begin to rebuild their lives, the news of his death, brought by the probing Inspector Shashank, forces them into a dangerous game of manipulation, strategy, and blurred identities. Who is the victim, and who the perpetrator? The answer shifts like pieces on a board.
But this is no ordinary play. The Stalemate transforms the stage itself into a living chessboard, rotating under the audience's gaze. With an score by Multani Music, Rhythom, and Harsh Parker, every move resonates with tension. The games-crafted with the expertise of India's Grandmaster Tejas Bakre-unfold through breathtaking dance and design, enhanced by Pallavi Patel's evocative costumes and Kapil Dev's striking set.
