Conceptualized by Vocalist and Performer Himali Vyas Naik, this is an extraordinary musical experience that weaves together these diverse threads of devotional heritage into a singular, transformative journey. Her charismatic voice and vision bring together the sacred and the contemporary. Alakh unfolds across four immersive segments: meditative verses by saints like Kabir, Meera, and Ganga Sati; beloved Gujarati folk and devotional melodies that stir memory and community; a “Coke Studio”-inspired set blending Indian classical bandish with contemporary arrangements; and a rousing finale featuring raw and powerful forms of devotion such as Dakla and the Shiv Taandav Stotra. The journey also includes Christian prayers like Ave Maria and Lead Kindly Light, as well as Abhangs, Baul songs, and Shabads, spanning a rich spectrum of regional devotional traditions. Each segment flows into the next, crafting an arc of devotion that is deeply personal and joyously collective.
